Movin' On: "Mr. Marty" Departing OLV

Yesterday one of the true foundations of our church and school community offered me his resignation. It was not easily done as anyone would expect from a man who has been a key player in maintaining the welfare of the parish facilities. An employer of some 36 years, Martin L'Etoil has decided it was time for him to make the move. Who could turn down an increase in salary, a work location just four blocks from home, a daily presence with one's children at the work place? Very soon, very soon, Martin, or "Mister Marty" as some of the younger scholars in our school call him, will move to the new St. Patrick's school in Norbeck, MD. For those not familiar with the DC outposts, Norbeck is in upper Montgomery County. He will be working with Msgr. Kevin Hart, the Pastor, and his former colleague at OLV, Mrs. Susan Malloy, the Principal at St. Patrick's School. The search has begun. But, I asked myself, how do we locate someone who has the memories and understandings of a church, a priests' residence, a school and about six acres of ground? Now you can understand why Eucharistic Adoration is so very important! More news about the departure date etc. will be printed as that information becomes available.
No doubting this: St. Patrick's gain is OLV's loss. Of course we wish Mr. Marty well in his new work.
