Not too often that we read a great story about our religious Sisters. Let me share a marvelous story that appeared in the Los Angeles Times recently. Sr. Diane, now a young 75, is retiring from the leadership of Esperanza, an organization that assisted the LA poor to secure suitable housing. After earning her real estate license, Sister Diane set about to bring social justice to the LA real estate world. She backed away from no challenge. In 1989 she founded Esperanza at the young age of 58, just at a time when many are planning their retirements! One of her great achievements is that she managed to have nine terrible tenements redone into classic appartment complexes. With this kind of track record, who could think that Sister would consider full retirement?
