Some facts: the number of books in each of the testaments.
Old Tesatment: 46 book. New Testament: 27 books. What is the composition of these divisions?
OT books include Pentateuch, historical books, books of the Prophets and the Wisdom books.
NT books include the Four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles and the letters from St. Paul and other Apostles and ultimately the Book of Revelation.
These books, combined, make up what the Church calls the canon of the Bible. The Church, at the Council of Trent [1546], also has cited the total content of the canon as divinely inspired. What about other books that appear in some Bibles? Well, if a book's divinely inspired contents were challenged, that book was listed either in the "Deuterocanonical Books" or "Apacrypha."
