Here's a site where you can find the scripture readings used in today's liturgy. I hope it helps as you read the reflection. SCRIPTURE READINGS Today in the reading from the Book of Revelation, we encounter three metaphors that address the end of the world. These metaphors are used by the writer to "predict" the final days. The sickle metaphors link well with the harvest season which we have just concluded in our neck of the woods. Then there is the wine press metaphor to express how God will handle the evil when all is said and done. Scripture scholars have noted that these metaphors do not predict when an end will come. As one writer commented: "One guess is as good as another." What should we consider, then? Maybe this: If we strive to live in the Truth, if we do what we can to align ourselves with the movements of the Holy Spirit, if we teach our hearts and ears to be open to whispers from the Holy Spirit, we are making ready our souls for the day when God will meet us, face to face, for our own day of judgment. As a local radio announcement says, "not a sermon, just a thought."
