150 Years of Married Life

No, not one man and woman! Yesterday was such a wonderful day for me. In the morning, I celebrated Mass at my previous parish for two very special friends, Joe and Joan. They, too, will get back at me for posting their picture. Then then in the evening, I concelebrated another 50th wedding anniversary Mass. this time it was for one of our parishioners, Rosemary and Carroll Carter. Unfortunately, Msgr. Duffy had to run to Sibley at the end of Mass, taking with him my camera! There went my opportunity for a candid shot. While at the dinner following the Mass, I had to opportunity to be seated with Charlotte Giblin ... whose husband was seated at another table by the design of the party planners. Charlotte and Jerry also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the actual day that Carroll and Rosemary as well as Joan and Joe marked their special day. What a coincidence! What a wonderful experience ... to think of all that three couples had been to each other and their wonderful families. Surely it seems that November 24, 1956 was a great day for beginning strong and happy marriages. Congratulations to all of you ... and any others I may have missed. I truly wish I had pictures of Carroll and Rosemary as well as Charlotte and Jerry: not one of them would appear to be a man or woman who had been married for 50 years and had raised thirteen or fourteen children! Wow! What a happy marriage can do? And how did it happen? Hard work and dedication to the faith ... that is what each of them mentioned. Stressing there faith as so important, they made clear what they handed on to their offspring.
