DAILY REFLECTION: November 27, 2006

In today's readings for the liturgy, we come upon the story of the widow who makes an offering in the temple. Two copper coins ... not from her surplus but from her want, her need. So often we focus on that and leave the story. Today I would ask you to look at the woman and consider what brought her to give the two coins. It was that she had priorities in her life. Today, that thought brought me to ask myself, "as a priest, do I give to God the priority of time that I should?" If a relationship with God is a priority in my life, am I willing to give two coins of my time for some prayer with the Lord?
