DALY REFLECTION: ASH WEDNESDAY

ANONYMOUS
This unknown author offers a reflection on the challenges of daily life. Try practicing this kind of fasting ... it is most likely more difficult than giving up a some of the "things" we usually drop.
Make this Lent meaningful: write down what you will make your
sacrifice during Lent. Keep a score card. Let's see where we are at the end of each week of Lent.
There is a reward: a closer relationship with the Lord and
a genuine sense of accomplishment.
Lent is a season in which we can:
Fast from judging others, feast on the Christ dwelling in us.
Fast from emphasis on differences; feast on the unity of life.
Fast from thoughts of illness; feast on the healing power of God.
Fast from words that pollute; feast on phrases that purify.
Fast from discontent; feast on gratitude.
Fast from anger; feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism; feast on optimism.
Fast from worry; feast on trusting in God.
Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation.
Fast from negatives, feast on positives.
Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness.
Fast from excessive self-concern; feast on compassion for others.
Fast from personal anxiety; feast on divine providence.
Fast from facts that depress; feast on truths that uplift.
Fast from discouragement; feast on hope.
Fast from lethargy; feast on enthusiasm.
Fast from thoughts that weaken; feast on promises that inspire.
Fast from shadows of sorrow; feast on the sunlight of serenity.
Fast from gossip; feast on purposeful silence.
Fast from problems that overwhelm; feast on prayer that under girds.'
