Congratulations to Principal, Mrs. Sheila Martinez, and the Faculty and all others who had any part in the various events that were produced during this special week. There were many wonderful moments during the six days of celebration. What a special joy it was on Thursday, special Pizza Lunch Day, when the kindergarten children came to the lunch room to find a plate with a slice of pizza and a cup cake. Since they were unaware of the special lunch, their expression and clapping of hands was something to behold. If all that joy could have been bottled!!! And the talent show: it showed me one of the great benefits of an OLV education: stepping up before a group of your peers and not being afraid to sing, dance or play an instrument -- when they knew they might not have been awarded a place in Hollywood with The American Idol Show. This is surely one of the benefits that any child needs as he/she grows into his/her teenage years. To stand up in front of the whole school and many parents when professional training has not been a part of a scholar's past requires a great deal of fortitude. It is the same kind of fortitude needed later in life when moral or ethical issues become a challenge and it is necessary to stand up again peer pressure. This is just another reason why I am so happy to be assigned to OLV and to have Mrs. Martinez as our Principal and a strong faculty who supports her in her leadership. Parents, you should be most happy with your choice of a school for you child(ren).
