Readings
Creighton Spirituality Center Reflections
Today we read again the famous words of Jesus to Matthew: "F0llow me." To follow: this usually signifies a turning from to. This is somewhat the theme in the readings.
In my life Jesus dines with me at each Eucharist: be breaks himself as bread for me, he washes my feet.
You and I, dear reader, are sinners: he dines with us. Why? The redemption has won our salvation, so what's the need? Because we have a need for him in our lives ... a need you and I cannot ignore at times because weaknesses or pride or selfishness are weakening us.
He gives himself to you and me because he wants us to have a better way. He feeds us in the Eucharist just as at the Last Supper he fed Peter and Judas who would later turn away from him.
As we prepare for Mass today or tomorrow, consider how much you need him. Turn to him. Prepare you heart, mind and soul to be nourished by this abundant and loving God of forgiveness.
