Jesuits Elect Priest in the Line of Arrupe

In all humility, as a former Jesuit, I would rather not repeat what has been written by the sage of Whispers about the election of a new superior general for the Society of Jesus in Rome this morning. It was a surprise to all the outside pundits who never mentioned the name of Father Adolpho Nicolas, SJ. (on the right) a Spaniard who has given many years of his life to the East, working primarily out of Sophia University in Japan.

For those who moan or complain about the Jesuits in the world today, you may find the reflections of the new Father General written in preparation for the General Congregation both interesting and perhaps hopeful. As one who knew and worked with two of the new General's immediate successors, my spirits are lifted to know that a man who knew and lived his Jesuit life in the missionary spirit of Pedro Arrupe. No wonder the Holy Father immediately approved the election!!! Again read the lengthy reporting of Whispers Palmo! You will learn much.
And as Jesuits and Jesuit friends around the world say: Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam. For the greater glory of God. May God's blessings and the intercession of all the Jesuit saints be for the new Father General.
