Obviously the "agita" marketplace is not solely in the United States! The Catholic World News recently published the following article. Political correctness is not solely an American phenomenon. The Polish Story Article can be read in its interesting fullness.
Jul. 13, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The head of the Redemptorist religious order has indicated that he is actively looking into complaints lodged against the priest who operates a controversial radio station in Poland.
Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, the founder and director of Radio Maryja, has been charged with anti-Semitism and insensitivity after he was quoted as saying that Polish President Lech Kaczynski is "in the pockets of the Jewish lobby," and the country's first lady, Maria Kaczynska, is a “witch who should be euthanized.”
The quotations, published by the weekly magazine Wprost, supposedly came from a private lecture Father Rydzyk delivered earlier this year. The Redemptorist priest insists that the quotations are inaccurate, and charges that Wprost was seeking to deflect attention from an annual pilgrimage sponsored by Radio Maryja, which drew more than 150,000 Catholics to the Marian shrine at Czestochowa.
In April 2006 the papal nuncio expressed "deep concern" about a Radio Maryja broadcast that was widely viewed as anti-Semitic, and the station was forced to issue a public apology.
Maybe Jesuit Father Tom Reese, once America magazine editor, could give the producers some advice!
