On a day when the Church is celebrating the feast of St. Benedict, we are asked to recall his instruction to his monks when establishing the "Rule." The reason for his composing a rule to serve his community was to form a loving community running together on our journey toward God.
At the same time, awking to the disgruntled voices of a local talk radio group, I wondered what had happened to have the hosts so upset with the Catholic Church. "What has come out of Rome today?" I asked myself. Well, let me offer you the opportunity to read the latest document. Unfortunately there is some difficulty providing a link to it. So it will be printed in full for you below. It was presented by none other than our American Cardinal who is the President of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, His Eminence, William Cardinal Levada, formerly Archbishop of San Francisco.
Apparently the reference to the "one, holy, catholic and apostolic" and as the one true religion has upset quite a few individuals. It might server you well to read the document particularly becuase of the manner -- Q & A -- in which it is presented to you. Surely there will be conversations at work, at parties, etc. that will relate to the statement. Be informed. Know your faith and what the Roman "canons" are shooting off these days?
